Overview
Buck Lake is accessed from District Road #6 east of Gravenhurst. It is about 6 miles to the Buck Lake road from Town. Access roads from the Housey Rapids Road or District Road #6 are either Ruttans Road W. Fire Route 25 or the CGIT Camp Road. The lake is reported to have some fresh water springs but most water likely comes from the ponds north and west of Buck Lake. Water flows from Doe Lake into Fawn Lake and eventually to Buck Lake, draining out of the south end via the ‘Kahshe River’ (the name ‘Kahshe River’ is used in four different locations around Kahshe Lake).
Cottage development is limited to the East Shore of the lake with only a couple of cottages on the mostly vacant western shore. Buck Lake is almost a mile long and about ¼ mile in width. Many girls spent a week or two at the girls camp located at the south end of Buck Lake for over 50 years. Fishing is mostly for bass with some catfish, perch and sunfish too. It tends to be a quiet lake, ideal for the canoe. The lake is about 15 feet in depth. The number of cottages is limited on the lake and as a result there are few sales but expect to pay between $480,000.00 and $825,000. in 2021.
